Hyundai Mobis (KRX 012330) hosted an event in Silicon Valley to identify global partners and expand collaboration in the areas of robotics and physical AI. The company plans to extend its open innovation activities, previously focused on the mobility sector, into new business areas to proactively strengthen its competitiveness.
Hyundai Mobis announced that it hosted its 5th Mobis Mobility Day on May 18 (local time) in Sunnyvale, near Silicon Valley. The Mobis Mobility Day is the company's flagship open innovation event, inviting local startups, global automakers, and investment professionals to share medium- to long-term business strategies and explore collaboration and investment opportunities.
This year's Mobis Mobility Day, the fifth annual event, focused on robotics and physical AI. In addition to representatives from the mobility sector, numerous companies and developers from emerging business areas participated and demonstrated great interest. Attendance reached approximately 400 people, more than double the previous year's figure. This reflects the successes achieved in Silicon Valley over the past five years in terms of investment and technology exchange, as well as the increased interest in and trust in Hyundai Mobis within the region.
The event, consisting of presentations and networking sessions with local startups, investors, and representatives from Hyundai Mobis, highlighted that robotics and artificial intelligence are among the key topics in Silicon Valley. While IT and semiconductor startups previously focused primarily on investment opportunities, investors are now actively seeking promising companies with core technologies in emerging business areas.
During the event, Hyundai Mobis presented its investment and R&D strategies in the field of robotics. Employees of the Hyundai Mobis Technical Center of North America also showcased the company's achievements in autonomous driving, software-defined vehicles (SDVs), and electrification. Particularly in connection with the comprehensive operation of the Hyundai Group Metaplant and orders from global customers in North America, the company held intensive discussions with representatives of local automakers.
Hyundai Mobis plans to host another Mobis Mobility Day in Asia in the second half of the year. As the company plays a leading role in building a global ecosystem for automotive robotics components, Hyundai Mobis believes that establishing collaborative relationships with promising global companies outside of North America is crucial. Accordingly, the company plans to expand its open innovation activities, which have thus far been focused on North America and Europe, while simultaneously accelerating the early identification of promising local companies in emerging business areas such as robotics and automotive semiconductors.
